I was wondering if it is difficult to keep a horse at college?

at the moment i have a 6 year old belgian warmblood and i am looking at colleges in the southern part of the US like florida and the carolina's but when i move back to america my parents will most likely be living up east. they think it will be a problem to have my horse boarded so far away from them .. i guess incase any problems come up i was just wondering what problems they could be thinking of if you know any please tell me so i can convince them its a good idea :P haha thanks :)
