Is it safe to use a non-stick pan with a bird upstairs?

I just brought home two budgies. They will be kept in the spare bedroom upstairs in which the door is always shut. This room is above the kitchen however. I was told not to use teflon around them or it could kill them. I have paula deen cookware. It's a non-stick aluminum but I haven't seen anything about it being teflon. I also have one pan that says t-fal on the bottom. Will I be safe to cook with the birds upstairs? Would the air conditioning being on circulate it?
