Is Wooden handguard for FN FAL is well worth it?

I know its harder to find but i heard that the wooden ones prone to smoke and started to burst flame and swells when wet also handguard broke completely off until around 73 replaced with synthetic handguards made of polymaid materials also reinforced.The reproductions can had for $274 and originals are $856.
