Where did energy originally come from?

we all know that energy can't be created or destroyed, it can only change forms. so where did it come from? even if there was an omnipotent god, that being would have to use some type of energy in order to create energy. there always has to be energy before the energy, otherwise the energy cannot be "created" because "creating" something is a use of energy. we know there is energy now, but where did it come from?
